Is your Twitter Account secured?
If you use Twitter then, I have a question for you guys. How secure you think your Twitter accounts are?
As many of you must have heard about Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter. As of now, The infamous hacking group “Our Mine” hacked the twitter account of the CEO. In the 24 hours, other tech giants such as Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer. Venture capitalist Vinod Khosla also reportedly had their Twitter accounts hacked by OurMine.
Jack Dorsey hasn’t been out to brief about the hacking event on his Twitter feed. But the fact that the co-founder of the Twitter could have his account hacked in such a way raises security question warning to all users.
We recommend our readers to use strong passwords. Also regularly change passwords that have been in use for a long time. In the case of Twitter, this could be even more important given reports that roughly 33 million Twitter passwords are being sold on the dark web.
The infamous OurMine hackers made news when they hacked into the Twitter and Quora accounts of Google CEO Sundar Pichai. They were also behind the hacking of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg‘s Twitter and Pinterest accounts and Twitter co-founder Ev Williams‘ Twitter account.
OurMine claims to offer a service for scanning your organization for vulnerabilities. These account takeovers are more or less a marketing campaign.
